February 20 - 23, 2014
The International Vilnius Book Fair is the main annual meeting place of publishers, authors and readers, it is the well-known cultural activity in Lithuania, the biggest and most important book fair in the Baltic countries. The International Vilnius Book Fair is exclusively focused on the reader; its main accent is on books and cultural events, as well as on the possibility for authors to interact with their readers.
Another thing that makes the Vilnius Book Fair so famous is the usually long and impressive list of its foreign guests. The Fair has been visited by such stars of the literary and culture world as Alessandro Baricco, John Irving, Andrei Makine, Jostein Gaardner, Joanne Harris, Melvin Burgess, Sofi Oksanen, Yuri Slezkine, Mike Gayle, Etgar Keret, David Foenkinos, Tahir Shah, Alberto Angela, Herbjørg Wassmo, Colleen McCullough and many others.
In 2014 the Vilnius Book Fair will highlight the classical literature. The questions like - Is classical literature immortal? What does it mean to everyone of us? Do we understand the same books alike? What are the topical problems we are looking for in the classical literature? And what do the classical books say to us and about us?- will be highlighted in the discussion and seminar programme of the next Vilnius Book Fair. The Fair will be also dedicated to the 300th birth anniversary of the father of Lithuanian classical poetry Kristijonas Donelaitis.
Creative studio “You Can Create a Book”. A unique event that was born in the Vilnius Book Fair in 2003. The author of the studio - graphic designer, book artist Sigutė Chlebinskaitė with her team invites visitors of the Fair to take part in creative workshops, readings, meetings with authors of children's literature, book illustrators from Lithuania and diforeign countries. The aim of the studio is to show the development of the book from the ancient times to nowadays, to teach book binding modes, various illustration techniques, and to promote reading among children and teenagers.
Children‘s Hall. Traditionally children have their own place in the Vilnius Book Fair, where they can play freely and the events dedicated for them do not "interfere" with more serious interests of the adults and take place on the specially installed "stage for children".
Discussion club. Adults, who enjoy serious discussions and intelligent conversations, may visit the Discussion Club. Events held in the Discussion club are not associated with any specific publishing house or new publication. The well-known Lithuanian and foreign representatives of culture, art, business and science take part in the club’s discussions.
Art exhibitions. Great variety of exhibitions of the works of painters, book illustrators, photographers well-known in Lithuania and foreign countries, video and sound installations, most of which are organised in Lithuania for the first time, are held every year.

The Book Cinema Hall. Visitors have the opportunity to see screenings of the latest movies made after well-known novels, and documentary films about writers, poets and artists.
The Lithuanian National Television and Radio Studio broadcasts radio and TV shows, interviews with authors and artists, live reports directly from the Fair.
